Understanding the Party Wall Act 

The Party Wall Etc Act 1996 brought in the requirements for building owners to serve appropriate notices on their adjoining owners. This is in relation to works carried out to party walls and proposed extensions and alterations. This therefore may require notices to be served under any number of sections within the Act for party wall matters and under Section 6 for foundation work and excavations where you are within 3m or 6m of an adjoining owner's structure.
